As my loyal followers know, I am usually the one telling others to live their true passions. Not only do I tell them, but my actions show them that dreams can be achieved with hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude. Up until recently, I thought I was pursuing what I ultimately wanted. But in reality, in the midst of my hard work and dedication to Egolabel and various side projects over the last year, I actually lost sight of what my passions really are. I know that I love working for myself and being an entrepreneur. I also know that I love to write web content and have a knack for marketing. But did you know that my enthusiasm for helping others and promoting healthy living far outweigh my love for technology? Perhaps. But you probably don’t know that I have been singing since I was a young child and have a strong passion for writing songs as well as performing them for others. And so, my friends, I want to change that. I am on a mission to show you what true passion really looks like.
Over the last week, you may have noticed that I haven’t been updating Twitter or Facebook as much as I used to - and this is no accident. I have taken a welcome step away in order to take a breath and relax. I have also been contemplating my career path as well as my purpose in this life.
And so, I am back on the market, hoping to find a job in the health/wellness/fitness field that I can lend my writing, marketing, and other creative talents to. I am also working toward obtaining my yoga certification and some sort of group fitness certification. If I can find a job I truly have a passion for, working a 9-5 would not be so horrible now would it? Or, even if I worked as a bartender, server, or barista at a coffee shop, I would be happy in knowing that I would have time to work toward my health, fitness, and music goals.
Living the life of an entrepreneur is not an easy task. Working for yourself, especially in the beginning, takes more time out of your life than one may think. Weekends are no longer free. Evenings can no longer be used to just simply relax with a bottle of wine and good friends. That being said, if you decide you’ve got what it takes to be a small business owner, make sure you begin your journey for the right reasons and are passionate about the business you are building. For, if you don’t have a true passion for something, you will get burnt out, just as I did.
Here’s hoping I can go into business for myself one day. But for now, I’m going to be happy as long as I am following my dreams.
Though I am embarking on a new journey, I will still be taking part in select Egolabel projects and working part-time hours in order to serve our current, ongoing clients. Egolabel is not going away. This company is experiencing growth and will be around for years to come. I just happen to be one small part of a great, truly passionate team over there.
Thank you for reading. Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Look familiar? Yep, this was filmed at The Thirsty Ear (now Woodland’s Tavern) back in 2005 on Open Mic Night. I miss performing with Mr. Tom Padgett.
I found this little gem while cleaning up some folders on my computer today. *sigh* memories..
Last year, Violette Blues reunited for one final show. This video is of a song I surprised my sweet “New York Baby” with at the end of our set.
“New York Baby” - Music and Lyrics by Natalie Nichols and Thomas Padgett
We’re riding phone lines, when we should be riding subways
In my mind, we walk the streets of the city hand-in-hand
Central Park feels so brand new with you by my side
We run around like children with laughter in our hearts
And love in our eyes
Manhattan is calling my name
And Brooklyn does just the same
I need the bright marquees of Broadway to blind my eyes
The way you tend to do
I need my New York Baby, I need you
Need my New York Baby
It’s crazy to think that I’ve fallen so very hard
But in my heart, it feels so right - so true
I prayed this day would come, the day I’d find My One
600 miles is never too far when you’re in love
Manhattan is calling my name
And Brooklyn does just the same
I need the bright marquees of Broadway to blind my eyes
The way you tend to do
I need my New York Baby, I need you
Need my New York Baby
From the East Village to the West one, too
The streets of Lower Chelsea - all over you
Me and you in Little Italy and in SoHo
We go, oh I’ll come
Anywhere with you
We go, oh I’ll come
Everywhere with you
Manhattan is calling my name
And Brooklyn does just the same
I need the bright marquees of Broadway to blind my eyes
The way you tend to do
I need my New York Baby, I need you
Need my New York Baby, I need you
